MPs have voted to pass the assisted dying bill in Parliament today, and Southampton residents have offered their thoughts on the bill being passed.
Southampton resident Jon Walters said on Facebook: “Passing this bill was the right decision.
"However, I’m very sad to see that both Southampton’s Labour MPs voted against.”

Hospital worker, Frances Chant, wrote on Facebook: “Our lives are our own and no one should tell us we can’t live it or end it when and how we choose!
“We don’t make our animals suffer to the bitter end, why impose this on each other?”
Echo reader, Inna Lewer, said: “I think we should all have a choice to leave this world with dignity. If an animal is in pain, it’s put down, so why deny humans this option?
“If I was terminally ill, I wouldn’t want to spend my last days on Earth crying in pain - I’d rather go peacefully.”
But others disagreed with the bill progressing through Parliament.
Donna Frampton said: "It will [be] soooooo abused. I'm too scared to go hospital now."
Fatema Ali said: "Such a sad world we live in, totally disagree", while David Extance said: "I 100 per cent agree with assisted suicide, I 100 per cent do not agree with this bill."
Alistair Rhodes said: "Disgusting to even consider this."
