An adjudicator from Guinness World Records is coming down to verify a Southampton man’s attempt at breaking the record for the longest single male donation of hair.

The Daily Echo previously reported that Jack Drever, 37, was set to chop off six and a half years of hair growth in a donation to Little Princess Trust.

The Botley native will part ways with his luscious locks at Jemma George Hair Artistry in Chandler's Ford at 6pm on December 9.

Jack’s business partner Lewis Bowers has confirmed that a representative from Guinness will be down to adjudicate the world record attempt.

The current longest male donation was set in 2023 and sits at 83cm, but Jack had his hair measured by his sister and believes he has already passed the 85cm mark.

The pair have been raising money online for Little Princess Trust, who make real hair wigs for children and young people who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.

Lewis said: “We’re extremely excited. We’ve got Southampton Airport involved who are are doing a massive marketing push on their social media, and had Christmas tree decorations donated by shops in the community.

“We want to get the donation link out as much as possible because we’ve already got past our £1,000 target, but to double that would be absolutely amazing.”

The campaign has already raised £1,639 and Lewis said he will continue to shout about it up until Christmas.

Jack did not ever plan on a simple haircut becoming this big of a deal.

He previously told the Echo: “The spotlight isn’t really my thing.

“But we’re doing this for a good cause, so I’ll grin and bear it and feel uncomfortable if we can raise a nice amount of money.”
