A Maybush neighbour has spoken of his 'distress and panic' after a house alarm blared for six hours through the night, waking up his baby.
Those living around the Larch Road area of Southampton may have noticed a siren sounding that started at around 3am and was not silenced until 9am on Sunday.
One resident, who has lived there for three years, said the alarm woke his 18-month old baby and caused the family to panic.

He said: “Our baby is on the other side of our house and so we were woken up to the sounds of crying and the alarm coming through the baby monitor in our bedroom.
“It really caused quite a lot of distress and panic to us – we have Southampton General Hospital and the docks nearby and thought something could have gone majorly wrong.
“The sound of the siren was driving us up the wall – and it lasted right through the night until about 9am when it finally stopped.
“I thought that all house alarms were supposed to stop after 20 minutes – it was a real nuisance to us and the whole neighbourhood.”
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it attended the scene but said that no signs of fire were discovered.
Eyewitnesses said that that the firemen were unable to force entry and stop the alarm, to the frustration of neighbours, as there were no sings of smoke or burning.
The Redbridge crew attended the incident at 3.40am and had left by 3.57pm.
A spokesperson added: "A crew from Redbridge station were called to Larch Road at around 3.30am this morning due to an alarm sounding.
"On arrival firefighters carried out investigations and there was no sign of fire."
