A pensioner has been charged with murder and arson following an incident in Gosport.
Alan Wotton, 81, is accused of murdering 65-year-old Andrew Avery.
Police were called to a house in Exmouth Road at around 5.20pm on November 29 following reports of a fire at the property.
A police spokesperson said: "It was further reported that a man in his 60s had been seriously assaulted.
"The man subsequently died as a result of the injuries sustained. Officers attended the scene and made an arrest.
"Alan Wotton, of Exmouth Road, has now been charged with murder and arson with intent to endanger life.
"He has been remanded in custody to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court today (December 4)."
