SIX-year-old Alex Everett has been nicknamed the ‘The Mighty Midget’ after winning two matches in the same week in his Eastleigh and District Under-13 League debut season.

But as dad Jim owns Chandler’s Ford Snooker Club, perhaps it’s not so much of a surprise.

Little Alex set a new record when, as a three-year-old, he competed in the Dads and Lads doubles with Jim. But luckily the rules were not applied too stringently as Alex stood on a stool to play every shot.

Alex was back in action today. After quickly polishing off a McDonald’s breakfast, he won one match and chalked up a break of seven. Wearing his Manchester United strip he skipped off home with mum Karen to watch his favourite football team win the FA Cup final…

Chris Winbourne, who plays on the senior Cuestars circuit, had a shock when he checked the ranking list after his son reached the final at the Castle Club.

Not only was 11-year-old Jordan still in second spot with no additional points, but 37-year-old Chris, Managing Director of Eastleigh-based transport firm Formation Freight, had entered the under-12 rankings in 19th place with 18 points.

Now, on a good day after a close shave, with the wind in the right direction, and in a favourable light, Chris has been known to pass for 36. Luckily, after a frantic e-mail to Cuestars director John Hunter, the mistake was rectified in time for Sunday’s season finale in Swindon.
