Addiscombe 4 London Edwardians 2
Addiscombe returned to Surrey League Division Two action after the Christmas break and maintained their 100 per cent record against a determined Edwardians.
The Croydon team started well, although the lack of competitive hockey during the preceding weeks certainly showed as Addiscombe's passing lacked its usual zip.
They took the lead through a fine individual goal from Chris Reid, who ran from the half way line to score with style.
But hesitation in midfield enabled Eds to qucikly equalise.
Addiscombe got back on top when Reid got his second but again Addiscombe allowed Eds in to score their second after a midfield mix-up.
From a series of short corners Addiscombe scored their third when Richard Oubridge powered in his first of the season. After the break Addiscombe continued to pile on the pressure and secured the win when Martin Stevens' persistence and unselfish pass enabled Dan Dorman to flick home from close range.
Addiscombe's Seconnd XI travelled to top-placed Barnes in division 1A and found the opposition to strong as Barnes ran out 7-1 winners. The third XI also went down 3-2 away at Sanderstead.
Meanwhile, the Addiscombe Ladies First XI continued their good form with a 3-2 friendly win over Revamps. Goals from Ann Wyatt, Michelle Glaister and Claire Messom sealed the victory.
The second XI put in an excellant performance in their 4-2 friendly loss to Purley Walcountians 4's, who play a league above them. Addiscombe's goals came from Helen Squires and Pippa Carter in game which shows a lot of promise for the rest of this season.
