FRANTIC activity at our aerospace factory in Titchfield this week as wallets were emptied and desk drawers rummaged for a missing winning raffle ticket.

The shop floor union organises raffles for retiring members. Stewards collect donated prizes from managers and sell tickets across the site.

As we bade a fond farewell to the latest successful three members of the escape committee, the shop stewards drew out a list of winning numbers that was posted up on notice boards dotted across the machine shop.

Buried halfway down the page, among the usual bottle of red wine, bottle of gin and box of chocolates, was a line informing us that the lucky holder of white ticket 378 could claim ‘A tart from the site restaurant’.
