POSTAL delays are expected this week after Royal Mail’s technical workers voted to hold three days of strike action. They are taking the action over changes to shift patterns which would mean having to work more weekends and evenings.
Around 35 staff employed as electronic security and building maintenance engineers will be taking industrial action in Hampshire’s mail centres from tomorrow morning. The strike comes after Communication Workers Union members voted in favour of the national strike action by the workers who are employed by Romec. Dave Ward, union spokesman, said: “This dispute could have a massive impact on the rest of the mail network as Royal Mail sites depend on these workers to maintain machinery and buildings. We hope that Romec will change their attitude and engage in genuine talks which address the concerns of the workforce.”
