SOUTHAMPTON’S Nuffield Theatre is offering the chance to “pay what you can” for an evening at the theatre.
The offer is on selected midweek performances and allows theatregoers on a budget to save pounds.
A suggested minimum donation of £3 per ticket is advised, with the offer limited to four tickets per booking.
Nuffield marketing manager Tamsin Withers said: “The pay what you can tickets are obviously very popular and are really successful in attracting new theatregoers.”
The next production with the “pay what you can” ticket option is Theatre Royal Plymouth and Frantic Assembly’s modern interpretation of Shakespeare’s Othello, running from October 21 to October 25.
Tamsin described the offer as a “fantastic opportunity”
to see a new and exciting performance by an acclaimed theatre company on a small budget.
For many performances there is also a youth ticket price of just £7 for all those under the age of 26, making what can be an expensive option for an evening out affordable.
Tamsin added: “We would like to reach more young people and students who hopefully will go on to be regular theatregoers, and offering cheaper tickets is a great way to do this.”
The Nuffield’s calendar also includes several children’s events held on most Saturdays and school holidays.
These are often held in the smaller studio space and are interactive and exciting for younger children. And at only £5 they are an affordable way to occupy kids at weekends and perfect for the upcoming half-term.
