PIGS in blankets are something of a Christmas tradition, but these cute little porkers won’t be turning up on dinner plates on December 25.
Manor Farm Country Park in Bursledon has seen the arrival of 19 Wessex saddleback piglets in just two days, in litters from proud piggy parents Blossom and Julie.
The new additions to the park will be kept for around ten weeks before being sold to local smallholders, during which time it is hoped they will prove a big hit with youngsters wanting to experience farm life at first-hand.
“They’ve just been born perfectly in time for our Christmas market and festivities,” said farmer David Trenchard.
“It’s great for the kids – anyone coming round here for Christmas can hopefully come up and cuddle a pig.”
Manor Farm’s Magic of Christmas celebration is to be held on Sunday, December 14.
