FIRE crews have this afternoon been called to a Hampshire industrial park amid reports of a "deafening" explosion.
A number of teams were dispatched to Pyros Environmental Ltd, on the Charleston Industrial Estate in Hardley after a loud bang rocked the area at 2.45pm.
Around 35 firefighters were at the entrance of the unit, but the incident is believed to have taken toward the back of the plant.
An ambulance and rapid response vehicle were at the scene although it later transpired that no-one was injured in the blast.
A spokesman from Hampshire Fire and Rescue said fire fighters from Hythe, Hardley, Totton, Beaulieu and St Marys were in attendance.
The fire was involving hydraulic oil, and was extinguished shortly after 4.45pm.
Jenny Manley, who lives nearly a mile away in Netley View, said her house shook when the explosion happened.
She said: "I have lived here for 30 years and I have never heard anything like it."
