CHRISTMAS wishes are coming true for a Hampshire family hit by tragedy.
The Wildes had planned to make Christmas 2008 extra special as it is expected to be terminally ill mum Christine’s last.
They had forked out £100 on tickets for the now-closed Lapland New Forest and, with dad Ken facing redundancy, could not afford to do anything else.
After the Daily Echo highlighted their plight, they have been inundated with offers of days out and ways to make this festive season one to remember forever.
The family, from Chandler’s Ford, enjoyed a trip to the panto with a twist when they went to see Cinderella at Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre.
Christine, Ken and daughters Lauren, nine, and sixyear- old Lily had an extra special treat when they got to meet show star Christopher Biggins.
The former television presenter and winner of 2007’s I’m a Celebrity... plays Buttons in the show.
Christine, 41, said: “We are overwhelmed with the things people have been offering, it’s amazing.
“We’re very grateful and thankful to everyone who has helped us out in this way, it will make a huge difference to our Christmas.”
Christine was diagnosed with breast cancer nine years ago and successfully fought it until back pain revealed it had spread to her bones. In January 2006, she was given just months to live.
Robin Hancox, from the Mayflower, added: “We were touched by Christine’s story and we wanted to do something to help make the family’s Christmas special.”
The Wilde family has also been to see Happy’s Circus’s Santa’s Circus show in Eastleigh and has accepted offers of a day at Southampton’s St Mary’s Stadium to watch the match against Nottingham Forest on Saturday and a visit to Paulton’s Park.
