A NATIONAL poll has named a Southampton academic as one of the 20 most influential nurses in 60 years of the NHS.
Professor Dame Jill Macleod Clark, pictured, of the University of Southampton, came 12th in the Nursing Times’ Diamond 20 – a list of those who have made the biggest difference to their profession from 1948 to 2008.
Dame Jill was honoured for her role in taking nurse education into universities and developing teaching and research in communication skills and health promotion.
Dame Jill, who is based at the university’s School of Health Sciences said: “It is a great honour to be listed in the top 20. I have been very privileged and fortunate to work with hugely talented colleagues here during my career.
“I therefore feel I am sharing this award with them.”
