A HAMPSHIRE film-maker has scooped a gong at the wildlife version of the Oscars – by charting the history of a stuffed gorilla.
Tom Kelpie a former student at The Romsey School, won the documentary category of the Wildscreen Film Festival.
His prize winning work Who Stuffed Alfred the Gorilla? netted him £10,000 of kit hire and production services to make another film on any subject.
The short documentary, shot over 24 hours in Bristol, delves in to the supposed history of the creature which now forms part of the wildlife display at the city’s museum.
Tom, who works for Icon Films, said: “It was blood, sweat and tears for a day – but I’m delighted. The education I received at The Romsey School gave me the best start I could have wished for.”
