A HOST of good causes in the New Forest have benefited from the success of last year’s Sway carnival.
Organisers of the week-long event have revealed that it raised more than £3,000, about half of which has gone towards a new PA system in the village hall.
Some of the proceeds have been donated to the Over 60s Club and the village’s new youth club.
Other organisations that have benefited from the popular carnival include the Sway Family Drop-In Group, the Shorinji Kempo Club, Sway Scouts and the village pre-school.
Carnival organiser Pat Fleat said donations had been made to Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and the St John Ambulance Brigade, which both attended the event.
She added: “The committee wish to thank everyone who took part in carnival week. We’re already planning another full week of entertainment for this year, including a scarecrow competition.
“We’re always willing to hear from anyone with suggestions for new events, changes to the programme and offers of help.”
