A TEAM of community workers from Southampton has been recognised for its achievements in volunteer projects.
Nine youngsters on the Prince’s Trust 12-week personal development course were nominated for the Natwest Community Impact Award after helping children with disabilities and families in the city.
As part of the course the group, pictured, helped the Jigsaw Family Resource centre, in Peartree Avenue, Bitterne, which provides specialist help for children with learning disabilities. They spruced up the garden and created a sensory room.
Before joining the team, many members were unemployed and suffering from low self-esteem, and some had criminal records, and all wanted to do something more positive with their lives.
