Police today stepped up their hunt for a knifeman after a teenager was stabbed in the street.
The 18-year-old was taken to Southampton General Hospital after suffering a stab wound to his shoulder and a slash across his face.
Detectives say they believe his condition is serious but not life threatening.
The stabbing happened close to the Old Thatched House pub, Romsey Road, Southampton, yesterday.
One lane of the road was sealed off by police who urged drivers to avoid the area and find another route home.
Officers, including teams of armed police, launched a large search of the surrounding area, including parts of Shirley Warren, to find the man responsible.
He was described as black, wearing a bright blue baseball cap, camel coloured trousers and is around 5ft 10 ins tall.
He was seen running off in the direction of Tebourba Way and anyone who sees him is being urged to call police on 999 and not to approach him.
The stabbing happened at 3.20pm.
