THE pop world is in mourning for a musician who led a group from the south to Sixties pop stardom.
Dave Dee, who was part of the chart busting group Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich, has died at the age of 65, following a three-year battle with cancer.
The group, who hailed from Salisbury, had eight top 10 hits, including a UK number one single in 1968 with The Legend of Xanadu, in which Dee famously cracked a whip.
Between 1965 and 1969 the group spent more times in the charts than any other band.
Dave Dee, whose real name was David Harman came from Wiltshire and was a police officer before he hit the pop beat.
