A CONTROVERSIAL and police-backed scheme to fence off a pedestrian-cycle path through a North Baddesley housing development has been rejected by Test Valley councillors.
The move by Bryant Homes Southern Counties to build the 1.8m high wooden fence across a right-of-way linking Firgrove Close with the Knights Grove housing estate was rejected by councillors.
The decision was made after councillors heard the majority of residents in the area wanted the path to remain open.
But two councillors against the plan were Valley Park borough councillor Alan Dowden and Romsey Extra borough member Ian Hibberd.
Mr Dowden told his colleagues antisocial behaviour was a big problem.
