HUNDREDS of mourners, many from overseas, are expected to attend the funeral of one of Southampton’s best known restaurateurs, Franco Fantini tomorrow.
As so many people will be attending, the time the white Victorian funeral carriage pulled by two white horses, each with a plume of pink feathers, leaves Franco’s La Margherita restaurant has been brought forward 30 minutes.
It is now expected the funeral cortege will leave Town Quay at 10.30am to make its way to St Edmund’s Church in The Avenue where a mass will be said in memory of Franco.
The horse-drawn carriage is then due to continue to Southampton Crematorium where a short service will be held before many of the mourners return to the restaurant for a reception celebrating Franco’s life.
