POLICE have today charged a Hampshire woman following a ten-car pile-up on the M27 last year.
Two cars were flipped onto their roofs and one motorist was left with life-threatening head injuries after the multi-vehicle smash in October.
Charlotte Gardiner, 19, of Buttercup Way, Locks Heath, has been charged with driving without due care and attention.
The westbound carriageway between Junction 7 at Hedge End and Junction 5 at Eastleigh was closed for ten hours while drivers were rescued and police investigated the scene.
A 33-year-old man who had to be cut out of his Volkswagen Polo spent more than a month in intensive care with serious head injuries.
It is understood he is now out of hospital, but still recovering.
Gardiner has now been released on bail, to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court on January 28,
