THE temperature outside might be plunging below zero but that hasn’t stopped one determined daffodil coming into bloom more than three months early.
The flower is usually seen towards the end of March – but Southampton resident Carol Brown got a shock to find one flowering in her garden.
She said: “I was a bit shocked when I had a flowering daffodil.
“I have 250 in my garden but this is the only one that has come up early, it’s very peculiar.
“I first noticed it was in bud early in December and it really opened up on Christmas Day.”
Mrs Brown, of Botley Gardens, Sholing, added: “It will be interesting to see what happens now, especially with all the cold weather.”
