ANGLERS are being asked to contact police if they are offered any second-hand fishing gear for sale.
Officers are investigating a burglary at a fishing tackle shop in Sandown on the Isle of Wight where £6,500 worth of fishing equipment including rods and reels was taken.
The raid at Scotties in Fitzroy Street happened between 5.30pm on Tuesday, January 13, and 7.15am on Wednesday, January 14.
Anyone with information, or who may have seen or heard anything suspicious, and anglers with concerns about sales of second hand fishing gear are also asked to phone Shanklin police on 0845 045 4545, or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
