A DEVOTED Hampshire dad is giving the ultimate gift to his young daughter by donating a kidney to save her life.
Bob Potter, 38, has been given the green light as a kidney match for his 11-year-old daughter Emily.
Emily suffers from a rare condition called dense deposit disease, which causes her body to attack itself and destroy the kidneys. She had both her kidneys removed two years ago and has relied on regular dialysis ever since.
Both Bob and Emily’s mother Pauline were tested to see if they would be suitable donors, and Bob was a match.
He is due to donate his kidney on March 31. After receiving her dad’s kidney, Emily will need to stay in hospital in London for a further six weeks.
Bob, of Wessex Gardens, Portchester, said: “I am elated that Emily will get the best in life. We just want things to get back to normal.”
