WINCHESTER residents are about to be asked to pay more to subsidise the Theatre Royal.
The town forum has agreed that householders in the six city wards should pay more for the popular theatre in historic Jewry Street.
The forum, made up of councillors from the city area, agreed to cover the shortfall of £20,000 from the £200,000 grant that the Tories were proposing to cut.
Meanwhile the forum has agreed to pay £5,000 towards the £20,000 rescue package that has saved from closure the King Alfred Youth Activity Centre in Winnall.
Councillors are happy that now Hampshire Youth Options will be involved in the management, KAYAC will be better run, the forum heard.
