SALTERNS WMC’s reputation as one of the favourite away fixtures in the Southampton & District Social Clubs League is under threat.
The lads in Warsash regularly provide curries, spaghetti bolognese and lamb stew for visiting teams.
But others are providing piping hot food instead of the usual selection of sandwiches.
Q World D thoroughly enjoyed their curry at Shirley Social last Monday and on our visit to Mottisfont Social Club we were served chilli and cheesy potatoes.
Today saw the new Open Series kick off at Chandler’s Ford Snooker Club.
It replaced the Under-21 Roll-Up which paid out more than £12,000 prize money since club-boss Jim Everett launched it in September 2003.
Hampshire’s finest young players competed in 260 tournaments.
Mike Finn’s missed final black for a maximum in December 2006 headed a list of 22 centuries.
Series-1 winner Alex Dunkley and Dan Hildyard, the final Series-14 champion, won five titles each. Jason Hildyard, Billy Castle, Shane Castle and Lee Ashbolt claimed one apiece.
