The Daily Echo has teamed up with The Mayflower theatre in Southampton to celebrate the arrival of the hotly-anticipated comedy, which comes to the city in March.
We are looking for female readers willing to get into the spirit of the show and send in photographs of themselves – with appropriately placed props hiding their modesty – to be in with a chance of winning some fantastic prizes, including a money-can’t-buy theatre break to the West End premiere of Calendar Girls.
A group of winners will be invited to the first night of the show at The Mayflower on Monday, March 2.
They will then take part in a group photoshoot to recreate the promotional shot for the production that became famous worldwide.
The overall winner will scoop a pair of tickets to the star-studded opening night of Calendar Girls in London’s West End on Monday April 20. The package for two will include travel, the afternoon in a top London spa, tickets to the show at The Noel Coward Theatre and an overnight stay.
Sarah Lomas from The Mayflower said: “We want people to get into the spirit of Calendar Girls. This is a fun competition where ladies can present themselves in innovative ways, perhaps using an element of their work in the photograph to keep their modesty!”
Calendar Girls is inspired by the true story of some extraordinary Yorkshire women who set out to raise money for leukaemia research in memory of a husband and friend by posing nude for an alternative WI calendar.
Their courage turned a local story into an international media phenomenon and inspired millions of people worldwide.
