A COMMUNITY stalwart who helped to raise vital funds for a Southampton hospital has died aged 78.

Myfanwy White was a dedicated member of the Royal South Hants Hospital League of Friends and helped to make improvements for the benefit of staff, patients and visitors.

She was appointed as chairman of the League of Friends in 2000 before stepping down and being reappointed again seven years later.

Myfanwy was instrumental in the opening of three coffee shops at the RSH.

Irene Davenport, secretary of the League of Friends said: “Myfanwy was a wonderful person.

“Her heart was in the RSH and she put everything into making it a success.”

Myfanwy was married to Duncan, who continues to volunteer for the League of Friends. The couple had one daughter called Fiona and two grandchildren.

The funeral service will take place next Thursday in St Andrew’s URC Church in The Avenue, Southampton at 1pm. Only family flowers have been requested.
