ANIMAL medics fought in vain to save a dog after it was hit by a car at Michelmersh.
Staff at Romsey-based Mainstone Veterinary Clinic battled to save the two-year-old German shepherd following the incident on the A3057 near The Bear and Ragged Staff pub.
The pet was hit by a Fiat Punto driven by a Gloucestershire woman.
Police closed one carriageway of the busy Romsey to Stockbridge road to allow the recovery of the animal.
