A man died after a collision with a car on a section of the A31 on the Hampshire Dorset border last night.
The 25-year-old man was involved in a collision with a silver Toyota Avensis at about 8.30pm near teh Ashley Heath roundabout.
Minutes earlier, police had received reports of a pedestrian walking on the westbound carriageway of the underpass section of the busy road, which passes beneath the Ashley Heath roundabout.
The 61-year-old motorist, from Weymouth, was taken to hospital suffering from shock and injuries described by police officers as “serious, but not life threatening”.
The dead man, who has not been named, comes from the Poole area.
Investigating officer, PC Steve Renton, has called for witnesses to the collision, or who saw the man in the area, to contact him on 01202 222222.
The road was reopened at 3.15am.
