A MARTIAL arts expert believes that his skills can get children to turn their back on knife crime, combat childhood obesity and raise money for a good cause.
A series of charity self-defence classes are being run by teacher Subash Oliver, who will coach children in tae kwon do self-defence techniques for just a £1 charity donation.
People can sign up at Hythe Youth Club but Subash hopes to roll this out to all youth clubs and schools in Southampton and perhaps even nationwide.
Half the money raised will go to a Hampshire-based charity, yet to be chosen, and half will go to the Care charity in India. Classes are open to children aged four and over.
