DETECTIVES have released footage of two men wanted for questioning after a gang armed themselves with wooden planks and attacked two teens.
One of the victims had to be rushed to hospital with a serious head injury that needed nine stitches, while another suffered injuries to his arm and head following the trouble in one of Southampton’s busiest night-time roads.
Now, four months on, officers leading the investigation have released CCTV images in the hope of tracing two people they still need to speak to.
It was at about 11.45pm on Saturday, September 20 last year when two groups had an argument outside the Red Lion pub in Bedford Place. At about midnight, four of the men grabbed planks of wood from a skip in nearby Henstead Road and started swinging them at the other two, who were standing close to the Sainsbury’s Local cashpoint.
A 19-year-old man was arrested by police at the time and is currently on bail until February 20, while enquiries continue.
Anyone who thinks that they recognise the men in the CCTV stills is asked to contact DC Owain Davies at Shirley CID on 0845 045 4545 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
