A HAMPSHIRE teenager has appeared in court for the first time to face a charge over a nine-car pile-up on the M27.
Charlotte Gardiner, 19, pictured, of Buttercup Way, Locks Heath, spoke only to confirm her name, address and date of birth during the short hearing at Southampton Magistrates’ Court.
The westbound M27 between Hedge End and Eastleigh was closed for ten hours after the accident in October, which left one motorist in intensive care for a month with serious head injuries.
The case was adjourned and Gardiner, who is charged with driving without due care and attention, was released on bail to reappear before magistrates on February 17.
