A SERIAL teenage troublemaker has been barred from a Hampshire shopping precinct.
The two year Anti-Social Behaviour Order has been slapped on 14 year-old Robert Mongan for repeatedly threatening, intimidating and abusing shoppers and staff at the Locks Heath Shopping Centre.
The order made by Portsmouth Magistrates has been welcomed by precinct bosses and community leaders.
It follows information gathered by Fareham's Community Safety Partnership.
Executive Member for Fareham Council's Public Protection, Councillor Arthur Mandry said: "This young man has blighted the Locks Heath area for some considerable time.
"He has intimidated and harassed people at the shopping centre, including staff who are just trying to go about their lawful business.
"Furthermore, he has resolutely ignored the help we have tried to offer, by almost laughing in the face of things such as an Acceptable Behaviour Contract.
"Fareham Borough Council and its Community Safety Partners will show zero tolerance to this kind of behaviour."
Centre manager Graham Warner said: "Locks Heath shopping centre traders are greatly relieved that the Magistrates have imposed this Anti-Social Behaviour Order.
"This lad has been aggressive, intimidating and at times violent to people in the shopping centre. We even took on a security guard to ensure the safety of the people working and shopping here.
"Thankfully we now know that for the next two years he can't come within 25 metres of the centre, something that is a relief to us all."
Sergeant David Spacey, of the Park Gate West Safer Neighbourhoods, added:"Hampshire Constabulary is committed to making Hampshire and the Isle of Wight some of the safest places in the country to live. Tackling anti-social behaviour and criminal damage is one of our top priorities. Enforcing Anti-social Behaviour Orders is an integral part of protecting the community.
"If anyone suspects Robert Mongan has breached the terms of their ASBO, please contact Fareham police station on 0845 045 45 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
