A HAMPSHIRE teenager is in a serious condition in hospital today after his car collided with a telegraph pole.
The 19-year-old lost control as he drove his black Peugeot 206 towards Chandler’s Ford at around 8.30pm last night.
Fire crews had to cut the teenager, from Romsey, out of his vehicle before he was taken to Southampton General Hospital with injuries to his upper body.
Police closed Hook Road for five-and-a-half hours to allow for a full investigation and recovery of the vehicle, which had been travelling from Potter’s Heron towards Hursley Road.
BT engineers were called to repair the telegraph pole, which was badly damaged in the incident.
Officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the black Peugeot driving prior to it.
Anyone with information should call the Totton Roads Policing unit, quoting Operation Economy, on 0845 045 45 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
