CREATED by the Spitfire Tribute Foundation, the two and half minute promotional video tells the story of the legendary fighter plane and the ongoing campaign to recognise the men and women who built and flew it.
The video, narrated by BBC Radio 2 DJ Johnnie Walker, comes ahead of the launch of a public fundraising drive.
Under an ambitious vision revealed by the Daily Echo last year, the 180ft sculpture will rise up at the end of Town Quay.
Designed by renowned British sculptor Ken Potts, the steel wire-mesh memorial will have a wingspan of 110ft – three times the size of the original Spitfire.
A full feasibility is due to be carried out, including the testing of a scale model in a wind tunnel and detailed research into the construction.
