HOME Secretary Jacqui Smith has seen first hand the results of a police operation aimed at stopping youngsters falling into a life of crime.
More than 40 children were stopped and challenged on the streets of Southampton over the weekend as part of Operation Staysafe. Several were drunk or had been drinking.
The children were taken back home to their parents, many of whom were shocked at what they had been doing.
Mrs Smith said: "Where your child is on a Friday or Saturday night is the responsibility of the parents ultimately."
