HAMPSHIRE residents are being warned not to leave unwanted goods to a bogus doorstep charity collection.
Fears have been raised items being donated for good causes are instead being sold on for profit by fraudsters.
Leaflets claiming to be collecting for Heartbeat UK have been distributed around Chandler's Ford and West End.
While the charity is genuine, providing lifesaving equipment to emergency services and hospitals, the company conducting the collections - 500 Ton Limited - has no connection to it.
Anyone with suspicions about the authenticity of a clothing collection claiming to be for charity can call Hampshire County Council Trading Standards through Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06.
