A WOMAN was assaulted as she walked through a Hampshire town in the early hours of the morning.

The 20-year-old victim was near a cycle path on Cambridge Road, Gosport just after midnight yesterday when a man attacked her.

The suspect is described as a male in his 30s with a shaven or bold head and a goatee beard.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to the incident or anyone who may have assisted the woman to come forward.

And they have asked a man who handed in an item of her property on Saturday afternoon to supply them with further details of his discovery.

Police say they also need to hear from the person who picked up a bottle of perfume in nearby Hartington Road.
