SOUTHAMPTON University has launched an inquiry into whether more could have been done to help an “outstanding” student who was found dead at her halls of residence.

Kerry Standerwick was in her final year of a medical degree when she was found hanged at her accommodation at Wessex Lane, Swaythling.

Southampton Coroner’s Court heard how Kerry, 25, was described as extremely talented but suffered from bi-polar depression and had also been diagnosed with epilepsy.

She had suffered a seizure while on placement at a hospital and the resulting time off meant that she was forced into repeating her final year.
