A HAMPSHIRE dog owner is celebrating today after her prize pooch scooped a top award at world famous dog show Crufts.
Clare Johnson’s 11-month-old Kooikerhondje was awarded the prestigious title of best of breed at the event, a mecca for dog lovers worldwide.
The 25-year-old, of South East Road, Sholing, Southampton, hit the jackpot after only two years of showing at Crufts.
She said: “Olivia is a brilliant dog and she did amazingly well today.
“I never in a million years expected to win – she is a pet that I happen to take to shows.
“This is the most prestigious dog show in the world and it took a lot of hard work to get to this stage because she is normally just bounding about the fields getting muddy.
“But it is all worthwhile now and hopefully we will come back next year and retain her crown.
“Kooikerhondjes are great dogs – they are really easy to look after and are bundles of fun.”
