POLICE have revealed that an 89-year-old woman was robbed outside a Hampshire supermarket.
The victim was approached by a man who held her against a wall and stole her handbag, which contained about £30 in cash.
Police say the pensioner was uninjured in the incident, which took place near Sainsbury's in Ringwood town centre.
Det Con Matt Parker, of Lyndhurst CID said: "It is very rare to have this kind of offence committed in broad daylight outside a busy supermarket.
"There may well have been people around at the time who saw this man, who wearing distinctive clothing."
The robber is described as 5ft 6in, dark skinned and aged about 30 years. He was wearing a three-quarter-length black jacket, a grey hat pulled low over his face and ears and blue jeans.
The robbery occurred last Friday at 10.45am but details have only just been released.
