A BID for £20m of Government cash to pay for a rapid bus link between two Hampshire towns will be determined by the end of the month.
Hampshire MP Sir Peter Viggers asked the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport when a funding bid to pay for a high-speed bus link between Fareham and Gosport will be decided.
The Hampshire County Council scheme will see the old railway line from Redlands Lane, Fareham, to Tichborne Way, Gosport, turned into a bus route with stops along the way.
It is hoped the project will ease traffic on the A32.
The bid for £20m was made by Transport for South Hampshire, which represents Hampshire County Council.
Paul Clark, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport, said successful bidders for the cash will be announced by the end of the month.
