A POLICE campaign to beat the county’s burglars has been extended following its initial success.
Operation Nemesis, which was launched in January, was intended to run for three months, but has now been extended indefinitely after it led to hundreds of arrests and dozens of charges.
Across Hampshire, there have been 733 arrests for burglary since January 5 – an increase of 36 per cent on the same period of time last year.
Of those 733 arrests, 23 per cent of suspects have been charged.
These recent successes have also seen four repeat offenders jailed for a total of more than 12 years.
