A MAN was assaulted in his own home in a case of mistaken identity.
The victim was at home in Shakespeare Road, Eastleigh, when the attack - which left him with facial injuries - happened.
Two men smashed down the front door of the house and assaulted the man, who was at home with his family.
Police believe the man, who is in his 40s, was a victim of mistaken identity, as the attackers were demanding to speak to someone called Chris. Nobody of that name lives at the house.
The first attacker is described as white, in his early 20s, 6ft, of large build and was wearing a hat, a navy blue fleece and blue jeans. His accomplice was also white and in his early 20s, about 5ft 5ins, with blond hair and was wearing a hooded top and blue jeans.
The assault happened at about 1.25am on Friday.
Anyone with information should call PC Andrew Laverick at Eastleigh police station on 0845 045 4545.
