HAMPSHIRE schools have taken to the track to show off their green skills.
Six teams of 12 pupils from schools in Southampton, Eastleigh and New Milton were tasked to design, build and test “greenpower goblin” go-karts.
Under the watchful eye of University of Southampton engineering students, the Year 10 pupils competed against each other in time trials and a slalom race at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth.
Team Fusion Shock, from St George Catholic Voluntary Aided College, in Southampton, was crowned champion in the race to the finish line.
Team Goodbye, from Arnewood School, in New Milton, and The Grease Monkeys, from Woodlands Community School, in Southampton, were second and third respectively.
Team Diversity, from St Anne’s Catholic School, in Southampton, was crowned overall winner of the Sustainable Energy Scheme.
