FARMLAND north of Winchester is being sold off by the Government with a potential for various new uses.

Agents Smiths Gore is selling an unusual block of 73 acres between Martyr Worthy and Micheldever.

Harry St John, of Smiths Gore, said: “This land is being sold by Defra and is the last part of the renowned Bridgets Experimental Farm, the larger part of which was sold in 2002. The land is strategically located between the M3, the A33 and A34.

“Parcels of land like this rarely come available in the area which is mostly held in larger estates or farms – the possibility of other uses could attract purchasers with new angles.

“Being close to the M3, there is a fair amount of ambient noise that might deter some but, conversely, may attract other users such as kennelling/dog training, adventure sports.”

Other interested buyers may include neighbouring farmers or land owners, people wanting to keep horses or even run a smallholding.

The land is offered as a whole or in two lots of 67.3 acres and 5.8 acres; the larger lot may have potential for a variety of other uses, subject to planning.

It has a barn that has been used for many years as a laboratory/office and storage and located on the edge of an attractive mature three-acre wood The guide price for the whole property is in excess of £450,000.
