A HAMPSHIRE county councillor has expressed her dismay at delays to a report on expelling children from schools.
Pamela Peskett said she was extremely unhappy to hear that the report into exclusions has been postponed.
Cllr Peskett said: “I am dismayed. I have been waiting for this for three years.”
She said the issue was being “swept under the carpet”.
She is retiring from the council at the next election in May and wanted to see the report before she left.
John Coughlan, director of children’s services, denied Cllr Peskett’s claims.
Mr Coughlan told the Children and Young People’s Select Committee: “I am sorry we are not in a position to report in more detail today. But we need to make sure the report is a proper report and thoroughly worked through.
“I wish to take issue with the point we are ignoring the issue. That is not fair. I do not want to bring to committee a report that is half-finished.”
