TWO people were rushed to hospital last night after escaping from their blazing home at Fareham.

They were suffering from smoke inhalation which needed medical treatment.

Flames shot through the roof of the house in Chantrell Walk in the Hill Park area and could be seen for miles around.

The emergency services were called to the scene at about 5.10pm and the fire was well alight at the house which is in the middle of a terrace.

The fierce blaze swept through the first floor destroying a bedroom and bathroom.

Fire crews from Fareham and Portchester and Cosham, including a special equipment unit, tackled the blaze.

The fire was under control within the first hour but fire crews were on the scene to about 11.30pm.

Sheeting had to put across the fire ravaged roof and today the damage was being assessed.
