MORE than 100 people were evacuated after a huge blaze and a plume of smoke bellowing hundreds of feet up into the air.
The fire started at about 1.30pm in a Gosport scrap yard, in Jubilee Road and at least 15 derelict cars were ablaze.
Police evacated residents from Lear Road and Kings Road to a nearby hall.
The fire is now under control and residents have been allowed to return to their homes.
Six fire engines and 30 firefighters were at the scene in Forton.
Residents are advised to keep all their windows and doors closed.
